“A writer’s best friend is a dog — who never judges a draft and always wants a walk when you’re stuck.”

It’s only been a week with my new little guy, and already he has become part of my routine, sitting happily at my feet when I’m writing (and chewing things like the cord on my headset when I’m not, but we won’t dwell on that). Wolfie is 2 kilos of chaos and affection and it’s great, not just for my overall. happiness but for my creativity as well. Maybe that’s why so many writers have nice things to say about their canine companions:
“The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man’s.”
— Mark Twain
“My dog knows when I’m stuck. He’ll come over and put his head on my knee until I remember what’s real.”
— Stephen King
“A writer’s best friend is a dog — who never judges a draft and always wants a walk when you’re stuck.”

“Once you have had a wonderful dog, a life without one is a life diminished.”
— Dean Koontz
“Every writer should have a dog — to remind them to live in the moment, to greet the world with curiosity, and to nap with abandon when the plot stalls.”
— Anonymous
“Everything I know, I learned from dogs.”
— Nora Roberts
“Everyone thinks they have the best dog… and none of them are wrong”
— W.R. Purche
Anyway, even if we might not deserve them, we’re pretty lucky to have them.
